How
the ingredients in MigroSol Work:
Butterbur Root: A new study was conducted in five pediatric
clinics and 13 medical practices and included a total of
108 subjects. Only patients suffering from migraines for
at least 1 year were included in the trial. They were treated
with 50 to 150 mg of butterbur root extract for 4 months.
The dose of butterbur extract was dependent on the subjects
age and tolerance to the medication.
Of all patients,
77% reported a reduction in the frequency of migraine attacks
by at least half. 91% of patients reportedly
felt substantially or at least slightly improved after 4
months of butterbur treatment. The butterbur extract was
very well tolerated with only few adverse events. Belching
was the most commonly reported adverse effect and is the
only significant and well-known side effect of the standardized
butterbur extract. All other adverse events were mild and
did not lead to premature termination of the study. - Pothmann

Feverfew: Pharmacologists say that it
is very likely that the sesquiterpenelactones inhibit prostaglandins
and histamine released during the inflammatory process,
so preventing spasms of the blood vessels in the head that
trigger migraine attacks.
Magnesium: Magnesium plays
a variety of roles in the body. Not only is it critical
for energy production and proper nerve function, it also
promotes muscle relaxation and helps the body produce and
use insulin. Many migraine sufferers are found to have low
magnesium levels in their systems. To maintain healthy blood
flow to brain vessels - and thus possibly protect against
debilitating migraine headaches - it's smart to correct any
magnesium deficiency. Like calcium, another mineral it's
commonly paired with in supplement products, magnesium is
involved in the formation of bones and teeth, the clotting
of blood and the regulation of heart rhythm. Magnesium,
sometimes taken in combination with calcium, is often used
to treat other ailments, such as back pain, high blood pressure,
depression, anxiety and panic, including muscle cramps.
Essential for hundreds of chemical reactions
that occur in the body every second, the mineral magnesium
has received surprisingly little attention over the years.
Recent findings, however, suggest that it has important
health-promoting benefits, from an ability to prevent heart
disease to a role in treating such chronic conditions as
fibromylagia and diabetes.
Unfortunately, most people don't get
enough magnesium in their daily diets, mainly because they
eat great quantities of processed foods, which provide scant
amounts of this important mineral. The effects of stress,
intense physical activity, or the use of certain medications
can also cause magnesium deficiency. Some diseases, such
as diabetes and alcoholism, can cause low magnesium levels
too.
Malic Acid: has a diverse range of beneficial actions.
In addition to increasing energy levels
through its involvement in the Krebs cycle, malic acid is
also an effective metal chelator. This means it is able
to bind to potentially toxic metals that may have accumulated
in the body, such as aluminum or lead, and inactivate them.
As a result, the risk of toxicity is considerably reduced,
which is important, as a heavy metal overload has been linked
to serious problems like liver disease and brain disorders
like Alzheimer's disease.
In particular, malic acid's involvement
in the Krebs cycle means it plays an important role in improving
overall muscle performance, reversing muscle fatigue following
exercise, reducing tiredness and poor energy levels, as
well as improving mental clarity. These actions can make
it a beneficial treatment for sufferers of fibromyalgia
(which involves muscle pain, joint tenderness and poor energy
levels) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), which produces
similar symptoms.
A six-month study
was conducted by scientists working at the Department of
Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center in the
US, to examine the efficacy of 1,200mg of malic acid plus
300mg of magnesium a day. Half of the patients were given
the active treatment, while the other half only received
placebo. At the end of the study, all of the patients treated
with malic acid and magnesium experienced significant improvements
in their symptoms - including less pain, reduced muscle
stiffness and a more positive mental outlook - without any
side effects.
Gotu Kola: It is worthy to
note that Gotu Kola contains various amino acids. In laboratory
tests, Amino Acids have been shown to relieve and prevent
recurrence of up to 70% of migraine sufferers in studies.
